I earned my PhD from the University of Pittsburgh in the Department of Cell Biology and Molecular Physiology. After graduation I completed two post-doctoral fellowships, first at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and then at Carnegie Mellon University in the Department of Biological Sciences. I subsequently returned to Pitt and I am currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cell Biology.
I have been involved in teaching at the School of Medicine at Pitt since I was in graduate school where I served as a teaching assistant for medical students in histology. As a faculty member I contribute as a lecturer and small group facilitator for several courses in the School of Medicine including Tissues in Health and Disease, Immunology in Health and Disease, and Body Fluid Homeostasis/Renal. I also serve as a member of the course design committee for Tissues in Health and Disease. Lastly, I am course director of histology for graduate student researchers within the school of medicine.

Education & Training
I maintain collaborative research projects with principal investigators both from within the University and from other research institutions. These collaborations are in conjunction with the Center for Biologic Imaging within the Department of Cell Biology and the Renal-Electrolyte Division in the Department of Medicine. My main areas of research focus on the lower urinary tract with emphasis on functional changes during aging and following spinal cord injury.
